Within Griffin Nursery we follow the guidelines of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The Early Years Foundation Stage is a statutory framework for childcare settings who have children in attendance between the ages of birth to five. As a setting we follow the main focus of the Early Years Foundation Stage, which is ensuring that children learn through play, focusing on their interests, considering their individual needs as they develop to their full potential. The Early Years Foundation Stage incorporates four themes throughout it. These themes are:

A Unique Child

* every child is a unique child, who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured;

Positive Relationships

* children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships

Enabling Environments

* children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and/or carers

Learning and Development

* children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates. The framework covers the education and care of all children in early years provision, including children with special educational needs and disabilities.
